0 Plume Update Brings UI Changes, Bug Fixes

Plume for Twitter
One of our favorite Twitter clients, Plume, was just updated with a couple of subtle but useful UI changes, features and the always nondescript "bug fixes". If you've used Plume before, you know it's hardly short on features and options to begin with. Even so, they managed to add a couple more. The "timeline" and "profile" sections have been redesigned with font color and a couple layout changes. User names are now displayed in a color that can only be described as "Twitter blue", and user's handles are kept in grey off to the right of the name. Additionally, links in the timeline display in the same way as they do on the Twitter website, colors and formatting in tact. The graphical changes aren't drastic, but they give Plume a bit more polish.
This update also brings volume button scrolling, a polarizing feature you either don't care about, or can't live without. Several other apps have implemented this, and just like most everything else in Plume, it's the user's choice to toggle on. If you haven't tried out Plume, then there's no better time than now -- trust us, it looks really nice on a big Galaxy Nexus screen. It's free in the Google Play Store at the source link below. If you like what this developer is doing, and want to support an app that's following holo guidelines, be sure to give the "Premium" version a look for $4.99.

0 HTC to build another Facebook phone in 2013, says Bloomberg

Android Central

Despite failing to set the world alight with 2011's ChaCha and Salsa, HTC and Fb will collaborate once again to carry another Fb cellphone to market subsequent year, according to stories from Bloomberg.Particulars on the purported system are scant for the time being, but the report, which cites the usual "individuals with data of the matter," indicates a mid-2013 release, after the launch was apparently pushed again from the top of 2012.
The site does not point out Android particularly, however we would be surprised if Google's OS wasn't concerned in some way or different, given the historical past of collaborations between Fb and HTC.Bloombergsays the telephone will run a "modified" working system, which suggests to us that we may see a forked model of Android, just like what Ama zon's achieved with the Kindle Fire. For the less technically inclined, which means a version of the OS built upon the open-supply code, and most definitely excluding any Google apps.
Android followers will keep in mind that last yr's HTC ChaCha (aka AT&T HTC Standing) and its Europe-solely sibling, the Salsa, weren't met with much success. So it's potential we'll see the 2 companies adopt a unique strategy this time around. With Facebook getting more involved in the app area, it'd make sense for the Fb telephone to be heavily invested in this, slightly than something like Google Play.
In any case, it seems the rumored system is still one of the best part of a 12 months away from completion, so it's possible we'll see extra adjustments throughout the course of development.

0 Half of mobile gamers use phones and tablets as primary home entertainment console

Half of mobile gamers use phones and tablets as primary home entertainment conso

A current survey of U.K. and U.S. mobile players by PopCap reveals that around 50% of respondents most well-liked their telephone to PC, console, or dedicated handheld gaming console (like a PSP or Nintendo DS). Tablet homeowners ranked a bit increased with fifty seven%. Despite the portability that tablets and smartphones provide, sixty nine% reported to play on their telephones at dwelling on the couch (seventy eight% among tablet owners), forty one% whereas watching TV (52% for tablet owners), and 57% while in bed (51%). 10% of the 602 American respondents had performed cellular video games whereas in a place of worship, driving a automotive, and/or whereas watching a film at a theater. The survey's sample size was slightly over a thousand-robust - take that as representa tive or not as you will.
With stuff like Ouya popping out of the woodwork, I would have an interest to see just how a lot Android manages to displace the standard console gaming trade and which players are savvy sufficient to get with the times. Thus far, EA has executed an incredible job of adapting to and addressing the mobile market, meanwhile Nintendo has been vocally against the app retailer model.
Will players actually take to switching to cellular full-time, though? I do know I've undoubtedly spent less time on my Alienware since getting actually concerned with cell games, but what about you guys? Is your Xbox getting jealous of your pill?

0 Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean finally pushed to Motorola Xoom WiFi testers

Motorola Xoom WiFi
After a little bit of a delay, Motorola and Google are now pushing out the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update to Motorola Xoom WiFi owners who signed up for the testing process. Overall, it's Jelly Bean. Not much else can be said about it really. Everything you would expect to be in place, is indeed there with one exception. That one exception appears to be Chrome. You still need to download it from the Google Play Store in order to have it loaded.
All that said, there still isn't any timeline for a full blown release but it shouldn't be all that long of a wait. The OS update does feel good and added some pep to the now aging Motorola Xoom. If you're looking to load this one up, there is a few options to choose from whether you're rooted or not. One is to use a USB h ost cable, the other is to flash a recovery that will support the update. For me, this method in the forums worked but if you're looking to try out the USB host method, you'll find the link below. Worst case, you may have to wait for it to go official.
Guide: XDA, Thanks, Chad!

0 OnLive bringing console gaming to Google TV

OnLive
We have incredible 3D games built for Android tablets -- titles like Shadowgunor Max Payne -- but what's been missing out of great games has been Google TV. OnLive, the popular streaming service that brings actual desktop PC games to any screen, will change that. Using the OnLive Google TV app and a compatible controller, you'll have a huge library of PC games to choose from, all streamed directly to your big screen via your Google TV< /a> interface. All the features of the desktop client (for Windows and Mac) are on-board, including the spectating arena and multi-view play and chat. It's a great way to fill a gap in Google TV's content warehouse, and everyone loves games.
OnLive will be shipping on the Visio Co-Star, and will be coming to the LG G2 Smart TV in a future software patch. But the best news is that a stand-alone Google TV app is in the works that will install on any box or TV, so those of us who bought a competitors product aren't left out in the cold. No mention of when exactly we should expect the app is given, but we'll be watching Google Play for any news. Read what OnLivefounder and CEOSteve Perlman has to say at the source link below.
