0 What is the point in rooting an android phone

What are the benefits of rooting an android phone

Rooting is equivalent to jailbreaking an iPhone, there are always pros and cons to unlocking the phones capabilities. Rooting a phone is different from unlocking it to use with other phone service providers. Rooting gives you the ability to remove unwanted software that are pre-installed when you purchase the phone which people also describe as bloatware. These software in many ways can slow the phone down and this usually annoys us because most of us are spoiled to the speed of the modern power of the phone. And we all get curious on what we can do if the was unlock, such as overclocking, hacking, etc..

Phones these days are like mini hand held computers, the power of one phone was beyond what a computer could do a decade ago. With internet capabilities build into it people can go about their business and stay mobile. This gives some mobility, working on a phone can be hard, so people use their phones as a hotspot and connect a laptop, now that is even better. But this will incur a higher fee from the phone provider, and this is where an unlocked phone is useful. There are some apps that can do this even without unlocking but it does seem to drain the battery much quicker.

But the bottom line is that performance will be improved, as well as the ability to alter system files and one of the more popular abilities that was not giving to the android was to choose where to install apps. Because the android phones never came with an enormous amount of storage it became an issue but being rooted would also allow you to install on the SD card instead. There are also more apps to play with and as said before the tethering ability.

What is needed to root

To root an android phone depends on what phone you have, every brand will be a little different. Couple of things that is for sure needed, are the drivers to connect your phone to the computer, and depending on the phone, some features may need to be turned on to compile the program that will root it. The process is not long but the only drawback is that if things go wrong, it might brick the phone. Most phones has a master reset, meaning there is a pattern on buttons pressed to reset the phone to default. Example is like the Samsung Exhibit II which is holding the volume up and then pressing the power button and holding it till the screen comes on and then release the power and continue to hold the volume and such. Not too difficult, and each phone has its own way so you might need to google the reset should there be an issue. Best thing to do is to youtube it and see how its done.

Any risk?

Of course there will be risk in rooting your phone, remember one of the advantage is to be able to modify system files? Well there are disadvantages as well, if the file is tamper with incorrectly it can cause boot loops, meaning it will endlessly boot up, or it can brick, if you have no intentions of having an extra paper weight then watch what you edit. Also when removing bloatware, just be sure that you are not removing something that the phone needs in order for it to work normally. Changing the ROM and/or firmware is helpful but there are risk there too, as long as following instructions are not your weak point then any issues to rise should be slim to none.

Please leave comments on what you think or if you have rooted please leave a comment on whether or not it helped. I founded it somewhat helpful but it really depends what I am using it for. Thanks for reading my opinions. :)
