Increase Google Android Phone Memory (And Speed) With a Few Simple Apps

Google's Android operating system is fast becoming the world's favorite choice when it comes to cell phones. Most Android phones are fast, fun and reliable. Many people love Android phones for their sleek looks, hundreds of thousands of free applications and the ability to do things no other phones can do. Once your Google Android phone is no longer the newest and best on the market (a few months is all it takes!), users can begin to see major computational slow downs and even the inability to download any more apps because their phone memory is gone. This can even lead to your phone being unable to receive text and picture messages! This brief tutorial will help you get your phone back in working order and get you back to the apps you love!

Fix Your Ailing Android Phone or Tablet

Clear Up Your Phone Memory to Increase Speed and Space

First thing first: get the tools you need to fix your Android phone's memory problems. Visit the Google Play store (formerly Android Market) and find a free "one tap cleaner" and an app that will move applications to your memory card. I do not necessarily intend to endorse any one app or name, but the applications I use for this are 1 Tap Cleaner Free and App 2 SD Free. There are many more to choose from. Some cost money but many are free. If you do not have the available memory to download these apps, you will need to delete some of your other apps. Delete Facebook if you have to. You can download it again later! You can do this by going to your "Settings" menu, scroll to "Applications" or its equivalent on your Android phone and open it, then open "Manage Applications". Here you can delete apps to clear up some space for your memory cleaning applications. Just select one of your applications (make sure you recognize the application, deleting Android system files can damage your phone!) then choose "Uninstall", then confirm that you wish to uninstall the app. While you're in a deleting mood and still in the "Settings" menu, check your memory card's available space. Make sure you have at least 200 megabytes free. Two or three gigabytes is even better.

Now that your phone is ready to accept new applications, download the above mentioned cleaner and application moving apps if you haven't already. First open the cleaner application. Find the cache cleaner and select it. Follow any prompts that may open and allow the application to clear your application cache. Apps like Facebook, Messaging, Email and Google Play can have up to 100 megabytes of unnecessary cache, maybe even more. If you don't mind erasing your calling history and messaging history (texts and picture messages), open the text and call clearing option in the cleaner app. Some may not have this option, but 1 Tap Cleaner Free does. Now that you have cleared up to 100 megabytes or more, click the "Home" button to close the cleaner app. Next locate and open the application moving app. Select the option that allows you to move applications to your SD card. App 2 AD opens by default to this screen. Select any applications that appear on this list and click "Move to SD". Wait a few moments for the operation to complete, then press the "Back" button. This button is a curved arrow on the bottom of the phone on most Android phones. Continue the previous steps to move all of the applications that you are able to move to your SD card. If you have never done these operations before, you will probably have 300 to 500 megabytes of newly created free space on your phone's memory!

Continued Maintenance for Your Google Android Phone or Tablet

Repeat all of the above steps occasionally to ensure your Android phone stays in the best operating state possible. Remember many of your applications update automatically without your knowledge. This can lead to more unnecessary cache memory usage. Some apps have even been known to move themselves back onto your phone memory! You are now on your way to downloading new and better applications with a lot more free phone storage space than ever before.
