Top 10 Android games available on the market for console and PC gamers

There is a lot to choose from on the Android playstore/market. The are over 500,000 apps and games available with more being produced everyday. A lot of these tend to be mediocre at best but here is a breakdown of the top 10 available as of March 2012. Although many people may have their favorite, these can be purchased but nearly anyone and they will enjoy it.

Number 10

N.O.V.A. HD 2

This game is a First Person Shooter with a Sci Fi setting that will remind you a lot of the Halo series. It has a 8+ hour single player mode and a extensive single player that has a rank based system that leave you wanting to come back

The biggest strength of this game is the long story line of the singleplayer that takes you to jungles, spaceship and alien cities as well as others. There are six weapons to get you through the campaign plus grenades and machine gun turrets.

There is one weakness that could have many players giving up early, controls. The game can take a long time to get the controls down. The actions happens so fast around you that you will have a hard time keeping up and at times this will get your character killed in the game. This can be frustrating and you will feel it about 20 mins into the game.

Although this weakness, it is still one of the best games in the market and for the price you can't get much better.

Number 9

World Of Goo

This simple physics based game is both addicting and good looking to show off to your friends. It one several game of the year awards and was a surprise hit in 2011. It still has many people getting it everyday.

The game has you help millions of goo piles move and explorer across different maps.It sounds simple but these maps have plenty of obstacles to help prevent you from doing this. Each ball of goo may have a different ability that could help you get them across the map....think "Lemmings" for those of you older than 21 or so. This game is one that you can pick up and play 10 mins on the bus or keep you up for hours before bed.

For a few bucks you cant go wrong.

Number 8

Wheres My Water

This is one of Disney's self developed games and for some reason seems like their first big step out into the world of Mobile games. It is a physics Puzzle game and seems that It is well received and I can't wait to see more from them.

This simple but addictive app has you try to get Swampy the alligator his water to take a bath. The pipes have been broken and you the player have to cut lines in the dirt and use obstacles to get the water to him. The game features a great set of animations and you can really see the production value in the game. At a 0.99 price tag you should really just get this game, it is one of the best deals on the Playstore at the moment.

Number 7

Star Legends

It is surprising that I have not seen many people jumping on this game because of the insane popularity of MMORPG in recent times. This game is kinda hard to describe. It is a Futuristic MMORPG that is not as colorful as other games like it.

It is a easy game to get into and new and experianced players able to get the mechanics of the game quick. There are plenty of quest that you can do with random people or join a guild and get to know other players to play the game with regularly. It also lets you play cross platform with others on IOS as well as Google Chrome.

The game is free from the Playstore but may charge for some items in the game itself. Its worth downloading and giving it a try you just may find yourself coming back or playing it over WoW from time to time!

Number 6

Star Traders RPG

Its hard to explain this game. It is a real time strategy game with role playing elements that is set in space but has you micro manage, buy and sell like many sim games. As a R.T.S. fan I really loved this game from the get go.

This game seems simple but as you get into it you run into some trouble if you do not manage well. The first time I played it after about an hour of gameplay I had my crew running out of supplies and mutiny was inevitable. That being said I was much better the second time around

The games graphics and sound can be very simple although they get the job done and don't look or sound bad doing it. You will start out choosing a outfit and specs for your character to help get you into the game. After you start out you will be buying and selling items and doing missions travelling across a grid from planet to planet.

During the game you will have to join/avoid rival factions and engage in intergalactic battle while in outer space or at times to get into a planet or outpost. It can be fun but can add a little frustration to the game when you are getting to a planet to repair your ship and a pirate is waiting and you get killed. This makes paying attention to small things critical.

This game is very addicting and is satisfying to any RPG or strategy fan. There is a free version that includes almost everything as well as a very that unlocks a lot of new content for a few bucks. Try the free version and see how you like it before you purchase the paid version.

Number 5

Counter Strike Portable

This is the classic Counter Strike you always knew and played only they have ported over to the Android O.S. with all the guns, models and play mechanics you have always had. It is a near exact port over to the Android O.S.

For the three or four of your that have not played Counter Strike over the last thirteen years, the game has you fighting a battle of terrorist versus counter terrorist on a series of objectives ranging from bomb dismantling to hostage extraction.

The game is as fun as it ever was. It can be unforgiving at times as many players have been playing so long but a few hours into it and you will be competitive enough to feel comfortable. It includes most classic maps and system is working well enough on your handheld.

This games is a work in progress, that being said it is being updated often and is only getting better. It is still in Beta so it may have glitches and some problems as times but it should be stable on most lower-mid range phones out there.

If you are looking for this game, it will need to be sideloaded from the Internet since it is not available in the Playstore. I know Its not a play store app but I felt like it needed mentioning since most people will be happy and excited to hear this game is being ported over. See you on Dust2....

Number 4

Pocket Legends

This is another MMORPG for Android. This is a more traditional one that has you playing in a colorful, open world that has you begins in a lobby with other players waiting to create a small group or outfitting yourself with new items to help get you through the game.

When you get things ready and head into a mission you can join random people or pick off your friends list to explore with buddies. You will be in dungeons, plains and mountains killing countless enemies while collecting items and gold for future endeavors.

Although not nearly as robust as WoWand other MMORPG's this game takes from a lot of other games and it a lot of fun to play. Its easy to pick up and the learning curve in almost zero. The controls are simple and easy to get down in less than half an hour.

As a free game it is hard not to recommend. It could easily cost seven or eight dollars and would be worth every penny. With not one huge flaw this game can't be passed up.

Number 3

Word With Friends

This game has taken both Android and IOS by storm. It is a simple boggle type game that has players so addicted that even a certain celebrity in trouble for not getting off before a flight and being thrown off. It really is this addicting

When you start you will get a user name and be able to collect others from friends(you will have several playing this game) this will have you playing a boggle style game where you are given letter and and have to set words up on a grid. You will collect a set amount of points, receiving more points for longer more complicated words.

Everyone has played or is playing this game sometime or another. They even have a version for facebook so almost everyone has access to it. Its highly recommended and a blast to try.

Number 2

Cut The Rope

This has to be one of the most addicting Physics based puzzle games I have ever played. This game has been out on Android for some time now but still holds as one of the best games in the store and nobody should be left without it.

In this game you will need to guide a piece of candy into the mouth of a green monster named om-Nom. How you do this is up to you but you will be scored with from 0-3 stars. The layout and controls are near perfect and there is little to no learning curve.

This is a must have that has sold several million across multiple platforms. It is only 0.99 cents and will get you over 20 hours of gameplay.

Number 1

Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation

Modern Combat 3 has to be one of the most console like games on the Playstore. It has taken many cues from the big boy console games out right now. It does all this and delivers a great package with a few bumps down the way.

The singleplayer has you playing several different roles in the military from common soldier, special forces and AC130 crew member. It does all pretty well and everything translates to the touchscreen with some ease.

After you get some time in and start getting used to the controls you can move into the multiplayer. It is best described as a Mini Modern Warfare 3. It has a kill streak system that gives you advantages and tactical strikes to hunt enemy. The has a great unlock system and rewards you with plenty of new items to give you some advantage over the other players.

There are some things that have hurt it but none to bad. The updates have caused some problems with some devices and the game and be taxing on lower-midrange phones. It does have some slowdown when there are a lot of things onscreen at one time.

This is one of the few games I can say I would pay more than a few dollars for. This is a must have that will have you playing all the time. Even if you are not a first person shooter fan it would be a good idea to give the game a try and i am sure you will not be disappointed.

Well, this concludes the list of current top game in the Playstore. This is a matter of opinion but all these games are great from a console/pc players perspective. If you have Any recomendations or friendly comments please feel free to post in the comments.
